Changed Perception

I heard them say, "Oh you'll just be a teacher anyway."
You will laugh and play your day away.
You'll be free by 3 and have your summers off.
I could not reply to all these laughs and mocks.

Saddened fervently, I still entered the B.ed class.
My mind full of doubts and chaos.
I pondered over again on my decision.
"Is it right or not ?" was the biggest illusion!

While i sat there, staring blankly at her face.
She at once knew I was in a gruelling race.
She smiled and said, Money is not your motivation.
It's the love for what you do and your dedication.

You will not just teach to read and write.
But to question and explore, shape minds and lives.
While others sit 24*7 in front of a screen.
You will be planting seeds of motivation that'll be forever evergreen !

You'll witness true bliss in imparting knowledge with grace.
To help the world learn and be a better place!
For being a teacher doesn't come in a book.
It comes from the heart with passion determinedly hooked.

After almost a year, I now understand.
Teaching is a superpower and knowledge is the wand !
Each day in the classroom reminds me why I'm there.
Making a difference in lives with whom my heart I will share.

There is a special pride in being a teacher now.
Such noble thoughts were instilled in me by my teachers, to whom I bow !
